Easy Garlic Viazi Karai With a Sweet Chilli Sauce By upishi101


Viazi karai is a Swahili potato dish that is made out of frying boiled potatoes that have been coated with a spicy batter. They are usually had alongside a tamarind or chili sauce. And they’re arguably one of the most satisfying things you will ever eat. I mean a super crispy exterior and a warm, fluffy interior with a really tasty sauce on the side? Absolutely delicious and comforting.
For the viazi karai
About 10 large potatoes – peeled washed and cut into cub
1/2 cup of cold water
10 cloves of garlic, minced
Finely chopped coriander leaves
Salt to taste
for the sweet chilli sauce:
2 large tomatoes, pureèd or blended
1 red onion, finely chopped
Coriander / dhania stems, finely chopped
