Traditional Kenyan nyama na irio is a simple dish made with potatoes, corn, and green peas. It must be soaked before cooking, and green peas can be substituted for red kidney beans.

ย 1 Pkg. Frozen Peas
ย 1 Can Corn, drained (16 oz.)
ย 4-6 Potatoes
ย 3-4 T. Butter
ย 1/4-1/2 C. Heavy Cream
ย Salt
ย Freshly Ground Pepper
ย Fresh Parsley (for garnish)
For the Steak and Onions
ย 2 lbs. Filet Mignon (may substitute sirloin) (cut in bite size pieces)
ย 2 T. Unsalted Butter
ย 4-6 Onions (sliced)
ย 2 T. Unsalted Butter
ย 2 tbsp Olive Oil
ย 2-3 T. Flour (Wondra)
ย Salt
ย Freshly Ground Pepper
