This South African original is similar to meatloaf, but so much better. A slightly sweet curry flavors ground beef with a milk and egg custard on top. It's delicious!

Β 1 kg minced beef or lamb
Β 1 fairly thick sliced crust-less bread It can be brown or white
Β 375 ml milk
Β 25 ml oil
Β 2 sliced onions
Β 2 crushed garlic cloves
Β 1 Β½ tbsp curry powder
Β Β½ tsp salt
Β 1 Β½ tbsp fruit chutney Mrs Balls Original chutney is THE best but if you can't find it, don't stress
Β 1 tbsp smooth apricot jam
Β 1 tsp turmeric
Β 1 Β½ tbsp brown vinegar
Β 6 tbsp sultanas don’t replace with raisins – they are too sweet; sultanas are much better for this recipe
Β 3 eggs
Β bay leaves
