 In Sudan and South Sudan that means it is time for baking home-made cookies and biscuits. All families indulge in this rite, and cookies are shared with friends, neighbors and guests. I will share a recipe for Sudanese Kahk- sugar coated cookies. These cookies are crumbly, flaky, not too sweet, and lightly dusted with icing sugar. 

 8 cups Floursifted
 3 cups gheemelted
 1 tbsp sugar
 1 tbsp baking powder
 2 tbsp sesame seedsroast in oven for 10min
 ½ tsp Salt
 1 tbsp vanilla
 1 tbsp Anise
 Additional optional flavorings for Kahk: fennel, ground cloves, mahlab,
