Β In Sudan and South Sudan that means it is time for baking home-made cookies and biscuits. All families indulge in this rite, and cookies are shared with friends, neighbors and guests. I will share a recipe for Sudanese Kahk- sugar coated cookies. These cookies are crumbly, flaky, not too sweet, and lightly dusted with icing sugar.Β 

Β 8 cups Floursifted
Β 3 cups gheemelted
Β 1 cup plain yoghurt
Β 1 tbsp sugar
Β 1 tbsp baking powder
Β 2 tbsp sesame seedsroast in oven for 10min
Β Β½ tsp Salt
Β 1 tbsp vanilla
Β 1 tbsp Anise
Β Additional optional flavorings for Kahk: fennel, ground cloves, mahlab,
Β 1 tsp Ground Cardamon
