The recipe comes from  Zuri, who is South African and is an old South African recipe that was favored by fishermen for their packed lunch, as well as school children, and of course, it makes perfect picnic fare.

 275 g plain flour
 8 spring onions, trimmed and finely diced
 350 g mature Farmhouse Cheddar cheese, grated
 125 g smoked lardons (or diced back bacon)
 4 large free-range eggs
 1 tsp sea salt
 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
 1 tsp chilli sauce
 1 tbsp vegetable oil (I used rapeseed oil)
 4 tbsp buttermilk

Ingredients
